Course description:
In this course we will deal with the basics of manufacturing processes. You will learn the most important processes of primary shaping, forming, cutting, joining and coating, as well as plastics processing.
After successfully completing the module, students are able to...
- apply basic technical terminology
- describe the basic manufacturing processes and compare them in terms of the achievable component properties and quality
- estimate the relationships between material, manufacturing processes and resulting component properties
- assess the manufacturing processes in terms of their advantages and disadvantages
- select the manufacturing processes based on the construction material
- design the component geometry in a way that is suitable for production
